We welcome new and original submissions from both
established and first-time writers. These can either
be sent to us directly or through an established literary
agent.
Please note that we do not currently publish non fiction
children’s books, short stories or novellas.
Only hard-copy submissions are accepted at Myrmidon.
Unsolicited materials sent by electronic mail will be
deleted from our hardware unopened.
Send us the first two or three chapters of your manuscript
which should be typed with double spacing and with each
chapter beginning on a fresh page.
Enclose a brief covering letter that outlines the nature
and subject of the work and tells us a little about
yourself. Include any previous writing experience you
may have had and tell us whether your chapters are from
a completed draft or a work in progress. (If the latter,
give a realistic assessment of how much remains to be
written and when you expect to finish.)
We rarely bother to read synopses and find they seldom
do a novel justice. If
you choose to include one, please restrict it to two
sides of A4.
You must enclose a suitable, self-addressed envelope
with return postage. (Return postage should be in the
form of International Reply Coupons if you are submitting
from outside the United Kingdom.)
Send your submission to the following:
Submissions Dept
Myrmidon Books Ltd
Rotterdam House

Newcastle upon Tyne
NE1 3DY
Whilst we will make every effort to take care of your
work and trust the mail service to do likewise, you
send it at your own risk and we cannot be held responsible
for lost or damaged manuscripts. Assuming your work
is precious to you, please do not send us your only
copy.
Finally, be patient with us. As one of the few remaining
fiction publishers who still accept un-agented submissions,
we receive a disproportionately high volume of material
and yet our editorial team is very small. Do not be
purprised if you do not hear from us within six months.
Please do not chase up a response before then. Also
be aware that the number of submissions we receive
prohibits us from entering into correspondence regarding
the merits of individual submissions.
